1968 Colt Python Royal Blue

According to Gurney Brown's ecellent book Colt's Python, King of the Seven Serpents Colt first produced a Python with a two and one-half inch barrel in 1963. My gun was made in 1965. I found the size of the frame coupled with this very short barrel to be uncomfortable. The shorter barrel makes it easier to conceal the revolver, either inside a holster or on your person. Shorter barrels can result in reduced muzzle velocity and accuracy compared to longer-barreled counterparts. However, they are still effective at close to medium ranges, which is typically the intended purpose for self-defense. While large-frame revolvers are known for their recoil, the shorter barrel may exacerbate recoil control issues. Proper training and grip techniques are essential to manage recoil effectively.

I've owned Pythons with 2.5", 4" and 6" barrels. The four-inch is definately my favorite. I like the way it shoots and handles by far better than the others.
