The first generation Colt Python was officially released by Colt in December 1955. The so-called second generation gun is nothing like the original. The new Pythons are all made from stainless steel. My old gun pictured here is nickel plated.

The second generation Colt Python was officially released by Colt in January 2020 just prior to the announcement the company was purchased by Česká zbrojovka Group (CZG), which would rename itself Colt CZ Group in 2022.

Here is how I care for that 62 year-old nickel finish.

All of the products used in my project were less than $50 combined, and will last for many other guns. I have to thank Benny, my FFL guy for his guidance on just the right stuff to use. Don't be tempted to grab the nearest rag and cleaner you have that are intended for home, shop or automotive use.
