Gun Collectors Club Blog - Sig Sauer P365X Micro-Compact
The Sig Sauer P365X Micro-Compact is a popular semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. It's known for its compact size and high capacity, making it a popular choice for concealed carry and personal defense. The Sig Sauer P365X Micro-Compact, featuring a 3.1 inch barrel, the XSeries grip module with a 12 round flush fit magazine brings a new level of performance to your every-day-carry (EDC).
The P365X is designed to be very compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry concealed. It has a small frame and short barrel, which makes it comfortable to carry on your person.
One of the standout features of the P365X is its impressive magazine capacity. It typically comes with a flush-fit magazine that can hold 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition, which is quite high for a pistol of its size. Extended magazines with even higher capacity are also available.
The P365X comes with a slide that is cut for the installation of various red dot sights (RDS), making it optics-ready. This allows you to mount a reflex sight for faster target acquisition and improved accuracy.
The pistol features a modular design with interchangeable grip modules, allowing you to customize the grip size to better fit your hand. This can enhance ergonomics and control.
It has a Picatinny rail on the frame, enabling you to attach accessories such as lights or lasers.
Many models of the P365X come equipped with night sights for improved low-light visibility.
The P365X operates as a striker-fired pistol, which means it has a consistent trigger pull with each shot.
Some variants of the P365X offer an optional manual safety for those who prefer an extra layer of safety.
What is the best way for a veteran to spend Veteran's Day? Taking a trip to the indoor gun range with your son-in-law is a good way. Alec and I decided we would fire 9mm and .22 calibers today. We both carried our Smith & Wesson K-22 revolvers and I carried my Sig P320 AXG Classic. Alec brought his .380, however, we decided to rent a couple of 9mm handguns for him to evaluate.
The indoor gun range is a twenty-minute drive from my home, so we left shortly after 8:00 am to be there when the doors opened at 9:00. We booked two lanes for an hour, rented a couple of different nine millimeter handguns for Alec to evaluate and we were off and running!
What a day! I had so much fun I felt guilty. Here it was Alec's birthday and I'm pretty sure there is no way that he enjoyed our day more than me. Last year (2022), at age 62, I learned that I have Macular Degeneration, which causes my eyesight in my right eye to be very blury. That Red Dot Sight on the P365X allowed me to shoot a pretty good group with both eyes open. I'm going to explore this red dot business a bit more and report back.
Overall, the Sig Sauer P365X Micro-Compact 9mm is a highly regarded firearm for concealed carry due to its combination of compact size, high capacity, and the ability to customize it to your preferences. As with any firearm, it's essential to receive proper training and follow all safety guidelines when handling and carrying it. Additionally, gun laws and regulations may vary by location, so always ensure you are in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Renting a handgun at an indoor gun range is a common practice for individuals who want to try different firearms or practice shooting without owning one. The only down-side to renting a firearm at the range, is the fact that facility will require you to purchase ammunition at the range for the rented firearm. The range may require you to use their ammunition to ensure safety and quality control.
The upside however, is a wonderful thing! Alec got to try a model before he purchsed one. Most ranges that offer firearm rentals will have a selection of handguns available. You can typically choose from a variety of models and calibers. The staff can help you select one that suits your experience level and purpose, whether it's for self-defense training, target practice, or trying out different firearms.
Remember that firearm safety is of utmost importance. Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded, and follow all safety rules and range instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable shooting experience. If you're new to firearms, consider taking a basic firearms safety course before heading to the range.
Alec's new EDC is so small and lightweight, the recoil was very noticeable when I fired it, however, that was just after firing almost 100 rounds with my heftier P320. Alec's choice of handgun is hands down a top pick that would be hard to beat.
