This is a personal product review. The Solofish 800lm Pistol Light Laser Combo was not provided to me, sponsored, or discounted for review. I purchased it at full price, tried it myself, and wrote this page from that perspective.

My Opinion: 5 Stars

★★★★★

The Solofish unit impressed me because it combines a bright light, visible laser, simple controls, and rechargeable convenience at a very low price point.

Performance & Brightness

The 800 lumen LED flashlight produces a strong, useful beam for low-light visibility. The laser option adds a clear visual reference point, and I particularly like the green setting because it is easier for me to pick up quickly.

For my purposes, the real value is not that this is the most expensive or most refined unit on the market. It is that the performance is far better than I expected at this price, and it gave me a practical aid that helps me continue enjoying firearms despite eyesight challenges.

Build Quality & Design

The unit is lightweight and compact, which matters on a handgun. A light or laser can be useful, but if it makes the firearm awkward or front-heavy, it becomes something you will not enjoy using for practice.

The Solofish feels more substantial than its price suggests. I would still treat it as an affordable accessory rather than a duty-grade premium light, but for the money, the fit and finish were better than expected.

I have Dry AMD in my left eye and Wet AMD in my right eye. Anything I can do that helps me stay connected to shooting and collecting is welcomed.

The green laser setting was the most useful for me personally.

Mounting & Ergonomics

The adjustable rail mount is one of the better features. It allows the unit to fit a variety of rail-equipped handguns, and the ambidextrous controls make the light and laser settings easier to reach without overthinking the process.

I like simple controls on gear like this. Under normal use, I do not want a product that requires a manual every time I pick it up. The Solofish gives you light, laser, and combination modes in a package that is easy to understand.

The rail-friendly mounting system is one reason the product works well as a low-cost test piece.

Battery Life & Rechargeability

The built-in USB-C rechargeable battery is a big convenience. I do not like keeping up with odd batteries or proprietary charging cables when I can avoid it, so USB-C gives this product a practical advantage.

At this price point, I would not expect endless runtime under continuous use. But for practice, testing, and reasonable use, the rechargeable setup makes sense and keeps the product easy to keep ready.

Value for the Price

The value is the main story. I bought the Solofish thinking I would try it first as a practice accessory and decide later whether it deserved a more serious place in my setup. After using it, I was surprised by how much capability was packed into a low-cost unit.

Some products feel cheap because they are cheap. This one feels inexpensive in the best sense: affordable, useful, and good enough to make you wonder why some similar accessories cost so much more.

For the cost, this little unit delivered more than I expected.

Why It Matters to Me

I inherited macular degeneration from my father. The disease became real for me at age 63, and I will never forget raising a shotgun at a turkey shoot, closing my left eye, and realizing something was seriously wrong with my sight picture.

Since October 2023, I have been receiving injections in my right eye. As children we used to say, “cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.” I never imagined that phrase would become part of my actual life.

I do not want to give up collecting, range time, or the memories tied to firearms. I have tried different things that might help me, and the green laser on this Solofish unit does help. That personal usefulness is a big part of why I rate it highly.

Conclusion

The Solofish 800lm Pistol Light Laser Combo is an absolute bargain. It blends brightness, simple controls, rechargeability, and practical value in a compact package. It is not a prestige accessory, but it is one of those products that does more than its price suggests.

For me, the best endorsement is simple: I paid for it, I used it, and I am glad I bought it.
